Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain hosted the third WBNET project meeting, from 24th – 26th of September. It was an opportunity for the members of the consortium to present their periodic progress reports, exchange experiences and good practices, as well as to make plans for the upcoming period under the guidance of the coordinator. The host institution organized a series of interesting and useful trainings as part of this event.
The meeting started with the welcome speeches and presentation of the host institution, UPM School of Telecommunication – ETSIT, followed by laboratories and equipment presentation.
The afternoon program included a progress report of the course of the project, presented by Prof. Dr. Ljiljana Pecić, the coordinator of the WBnet project, and representatives of the individual institutions. Closing session of the first day was presentation of the Draft of the objectives of Centers for short studies.
The activities of the second project day began with an informative training on Urban mining, presented by prof. Ljiljana Medic from UPM School for Mining Engineering and Navigating ICT and Multimedia Education: The Future is here, presented by prof Joakim Ordieres from UPM School for Industrial Engineering. The participants learned about the Energy transition, Fight against climate change, Renewable fuels, Circular economy, etc. Also, the experience of EU projects on the secondary education as well as the university education between the theoretic concepts and the arrival of IA, as well as the new requirements posed by the generation Z and Alfa. Also, presenting EELISA, consortium of European universities lead by UPM.
In the afternoon meetings of the Steering Committee, the Quality Assurance Board, and Dissemination Board took place.
The third day was dedicated to short courses and pedagogical courses presentation. The first module was presented by prof Susana Sastre, from UPM Institute of Educational Sciences ICE, putting a special focus on presentation of the ICE – Institute of Educational Sciences at UPM, https://www.ice.upm.es/. Continuous formation for professors: Methodological strategies, Basic formation for research, Personal development formation, Applied English for teaching and research, Applied technologies for university teaching, Formation for the development of the academic career. Also, Formation for teachers at secondary schools and professional formation, Initial formation for university teaching, Complementary courses for MSc and PhD students, Transversal competences for students, Journal for teachers, Virtual learning environments, Escape teaching rooms, etc.
The second module was presented by prof. Iciar de Pablo Lerchundi, UPM Institute of Educational Sciences – ICE, with the accent on Emotinal intelligence in university classroom; Theatral improvisation to improve the communication in teaching; Learning based on the projects; Learning dificulties: Neuroscience for integration of cognitive diversity; Flipped classrooms; Fast methods for the work in group; Interpersonal communication: How to build the confidence and influence the others; etc.
The meeting has been concluded with presentation of the Draft Sustainability Plan.
We would like to thank to UPM for very good organization of the meeting as well as to the project partners for their participation in the meeting in Madrid. The next consortium meeting will be for the Interim conference to be held in UPKM in Kosovska Mitrovica from 22.04. – 24.04.2025.
