The WBNET project was successfully promoted during the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) Staff Week hosted by the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria, from May 25th to 29th, 2026. The event brought together more than 50 academic and administrative staff members from 15 partner universities, providing an excellent platform for international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and dissemination of innovative educational initiatives.
As part of the program, representatives of the University of Bihać, Prof. Aladin Crnkić and Prof. Atif Hodžić, delivered a presentation entitled “The WBNET Project: Objectives, Activities, and Expected Outcomes”. The presentation introduced the main achievements and future plans of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building project “Network of Centers for Regional Short Study Programs in the Countries of the Western Balkans (WBNET)”.
Particular attention was given to the establishment of Centers for Short Study Programs at partner higher education institutions and the development of innovative short study programs designed to respond to rapidly changing labor market needs. The presenters highlighted the project’s efforts to strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions and industry, as well as the introduction of micro-credentials as a flexible mechanism for recognizing competencies and supporting lifelong learning.
The presentation generated significant interest among participants, opening discussions on contemporary approaches to higher education modernization, skills development, and the growing importance of flexible learning pathways. The WBNET model was recognized as a valuable contribution to improving the relevance, accessibility, and responsiveness of higher education systems in the Western Balkans.
Participation in the Erasmus+ Staff Week further increased the international visibility of the WBNET project and created new opportunities for cooperation with higher education institutions across Europe.
