As part of the WBNET quality assurance framework, internal quality audits were successfully conducted at four Western Balkan higher education institutions: the University of Mitrovica (UPKM), the Academy of Applied Studies Kosovo and Metohija (AASKM), Sveučilište Hercegovina (SVEHERC), and the University of Bihać (UNBI). The audits were carried out within Activity 5.3 – Quality Control of New Short Study Cycles and focused on evaluating the implementation, quality, sustainability, and relevance of project results.
The evaluation covered the implementation of eight newly established short study programs, the operation of Centers for Short Study Programs, the use of equipment procured through the project, organization of teaching activities, visibility measures, and cooperation with employers through professional practice opportunities. Particular attention was devoted to the alignment of educational activities with labor market needs and the development of micro-credential-based learning opportunities.
The audits confirmed that all participating institutions have successfully established the necessary institutional, organizational, and technical conditions for the delivery of short study programs. The review also verified the proper use of project resources, transparent implementation procedures, active engagement of external stakeholders, and the successful integration of practical training into the educational process.
The findings demonstrate the significant progress achieved through the WBNET project in strengthening lifelong learning opportunities, supporting the introduction of micro-credentials, and enhancing cooperation between higher education institutions and the labor market. The positive audit results represent an important milestone toward the long-term sustainability and impact of the project outcomes across the Western Balkans.
